Understanding QuickMail's Readability Score Feature
In this article:
What does readability mean?
QuickMail's readability score feature is designed to help users assess the readability of their email copy. This tool analyzes the email text and provides a score to indicate whether the writing is overly complex and may benefit from simplification.
It's important to note that the scores and grades provided are only suggestions.
How is the score calculated?
By default, QuickMail assesses the readability of your campaign email steps, displaying a general readability level in the email editor.
The score is calculated in real-time using our library for analysis.
The score may be lower with longer text or more complex words.
The score assigns a school grade level and a numbered score, ranging from very difficult to plain English (0-100).
The color gradient on the score bar reflects the readability level: red for hard to read, orange for somewhat hard to read, and green for plain English.
Other email components, such as attributes, line breaks, links, and formatting, have minimal impact on the score.
Does it impact email deliverability?
No, the Readability Score feature operates within the QuickMail app and has no direct impact on deliverability across different providers.
The text is analyzed before the email is sent out, and no additional code is added to the emails.
Additional Information:
Score Interpretation:
- Red (Hard to read): The text may be too complex and could benefit from simplification.
- Orange (Somewhat hard to read): The text is moderately readable but may still be improved.
- Green (Plain English): The text is easily readable.
Tips:
While the Readability Score feature doesn't offer detailed insights or recommendations, data shows that emails with a score of 70 or higher tend to have a higher reply ratio.
Language Support:
Currently, the Readability Score feature supports the English language only.
